Common questions
What quality setting should I use?
Around 75 for photographs. Screenshots and graphics with text hold up better at 85 or higher, because compression blurs sharp edges first.
Why did my file barely shrink?
It was probably already compressed. Running compression twice gains very little and slowly degrades the image, so compress from the original whenever you can.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit, but very large images may be slow on older phones, since everything is processed by your own device.
Does this work for PNG?
Yes, though PNGs are converted to JPEG during compression. If you need transparency, use the WebP converter instead.
